Victorian Pyrite Lace Pin
Here is a beautiful little antique pyrite specimen brooch. This fantastic piece is from a time when "fools gold" wasn't for fools. This Early Victorian brooch boasts a beautiful crimped collet setting. The back of the brooch has a natural "cracked" texture of the raw stone that has been "Japanned," - which is an early type of black enamel that was sometimes used in jewelry making. The brooch has an antique C-style clasp with a tube hinge in great working condition. Brooches like this were often worn at the collar of a blouse or dress.
