Antique Flat Cut Garnet Pansy Earrings
Here is a lovely pair of antique pansy earrings crafted from silver and flat cut garnets. The Pansy was a popular motif in the 1800s as a token of affection. These flat cut garnets in these earrings are foiled, meaning they have a reflective foil behind them- allowing the light to bounce through the stone. The settings are closed back and domed on the reverse. The garnets have a deep red hue and the ear hooks are gold tone. The pansies dangle from an oval shaped garnet and have lovely movement during wear. This fantastic antique pansy earrings will make an excellent addition to any antique jewelry collection.
The name pansy is a play on the French word "penser" meaning to “to think.” So if someone were to give you a pansy it would mean you are in their thoughts. Pansies were a common symbol for both romantic and platonic love.
